Sync Representation FAQ’s

Your guide to the frequently asked!

How do I submit to be represented for Sync?

To submit to be represented for sync, please send a streaming link to sync@assemblesound.com. Please give us a few weeks to review your submission. We receive a high quantity of submissions and do our best to get back to everyone in a timely manner.

How do I update my catalog?

If you are already a catalog artist and want to send us new music, please send a streaming link to sync@assemblesound.com. We will review the music and get back to you with a pre-filled Schedule A. From there, please send the completed schedule A, .wav full, instrumental and clean (if applicable) versions and lyrics in one Google Drive folder*. A few other best practices to follow here are:

  • Use song labeling format: SONGTITLE.wav

  • Label instrumentals SONGTITLE_inst.wav

  • Do not send .mp3 or acapellas

  • Do not send stems – we need to know you have access to them but we don’t need to have them on file

*Make sure to send us a copy of your files on Google Drive and give us editing permissions to the folder you share with us. Your folder may be ingested / reorganized into our database, so never send us your “only” copy of anything.

How do I know where my songs are being pitched?

If you’re curious about where your songs are being pitched, reach out to sync@assemmblesound.com for a pitch report (must be at least three months after you are onboarded). We’ll send you a detailed breakdown of when and where your songs are being pitched.

What types of briefs do you guys get?

As corny as it sounds, this industry is always changing and moving, and the types of briefs we get change on a daily basis. If you are interested in “writing for sync,” the best thing you can do is write real, well-produced, GOOD songs without samples.

What type of music should I submit?

We accept a wide variety of genres. The most important aspect of any music that is submitted is sound quality. If the song is well produced, mixed and mastered, there’s a good chance that it will be a good fit for our catalog. We’re also looking for songs with an arc or storyline. Lastly, for any song you submit, make sure you have access to instrumentals, cleans, and stems.

Why haven’t I gotten a sync yet?

We know it can be frustrating to sign with a sync company and then not hear anything for months. We promise, if you’re in our catalog, we know who you are and are actively pitching your music. Sync licensing is one of the most fickle businesses out there, and there’s not really much rhyme or reason to what songs get licensed over others, it really depends on the needs of each project. All we can say is that if you’re in our catalog, we are working for you and doing our best to get your music used.

Can I stop being represented for sync at any time?

If you wish to terminate your contract with Assemble Sound, please send a written request. We require 60 days to process termination and pull your song(s) from any active pitches. We will send you a release form which you will need to sign and return to us. Both parties are free to terminate at any time.
